Originally from Maui, Hawaii, Kirsten Melrose is a singer/songwriter
whose heart and talent will catch your attention. She landed in
Minneapolis in the winter of 2004 with a handful of songs
and her mom's old acoustic guitar. It was Kirsten's friend Cora, from
Minnesota, who talked her into moving to the Twin Cities, and whose
voice Kirsten's is seldom heard without. Their harmonies have become
a distinguishing flavor of Kirsten's music.
Their first recording project culminated in the fall of 2006 with
a full length, self-released album, titled Tracing Every Line. She
worked with local producer and musician, Reid Kruger, and achieved
a very professional and polished sound to introduce Kirsten’s intimate
and heartfelt songwriting. The album’s arrangements vary from
full and complex, to simple and raw, but
they always feature Kirsten’s distinct voice which can at once convey
both confidence and vulnerability. Kirsten shares her experience
with honesty and depth. Her authenticity as a songwriter makes her
a meaningful and refreshing addition to the music scene here in the
cities and wherever else the journey will lead.
