The Aster is the cheapskate gourmet's ace in the hole: It's got water views, a leafy, romantic patio, decent wine-pours, Summit on tap, and a menu that includes a couple of great sandwiches--namely the jambon, a crusty baguette filled with cold butter and slices of sweet, salty ham. (There's also a veggie sliced-egg-and-tomato version.) Actually, there are two Aster Cafés, the modest winter coffee shop that primarily interests neighborhood locals, and the summer patio that triples the place's seating area and popularity.
